Digitization is the fastest, most efficient way to distribute paper-and-ink-based information. It allows for the preservation of important documents, and for images to be immediately accessible by multiple users simultaneously. The result is a highly efficient, low-cost medium for sharing accessible, 508 compliant information.

"Scanning" is a term often used in industry to describe a process that falls short of Digitization. Scanning usually results in an "image" product that is similar to having a second copy of the paper source. Digitization goes beyond scanning and includes OCR of the text, correcting the Read Order of tables, Reflowing columns, and adding meta-tags to logos and signatures. This creates an electronic product with uses far beyond that of the paper source.

SOURCE DOCUMENTS. As a premier digitization company, VASTEC creates high quality digital documents and images from all types of source documents, including, but not limited to paper files, books, photographs, newspapers, maps, and confidential (e.g. medical, financial) records. These documents often contain sensitive data and/or are in fragile condition. All documents have a limited shelf life and are susceptible to loss through natural or other disasters. VASTEC assists in safeguarding these documents through archival preservation.

DATA PRODUCTS. Our Data Products are delivered in various file formats compatible with your database or content management system. We offer deliver over the wire, or via DVD or Hard Drive(s). Maximum security is achieved using encrypted and key-locked Hard Drives.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT. VASTEC uses formal Chain of Custody methods to track files and boxes while in our control. Using our bar-coding system, we can locate files for you at any time during the digitization process.

INDEPENDENT AUDITS. Customer Satisfaction is assured by using an outside, independent auditor to assess and certify our processes and data products for 508 compliance.
